The purpose of this article is to paint a general picture about the development of  Web 2.0 technology and the subsequent emergence of the Social Media sites and their interaction with each other.

Much has been written about Web 2.0 technology and essentially how the social media sites were birthed because of this technology, however not much of an in-depth look into its interconnect ability that makes interacting networking with millions of viewers possible.

First, what are they…and why are they important to the success of today’s Network Marketers and Home-Based businesses?

In this article, we will attempt to provide an overview and identify each of the major players by category that make up many of these social media/networking sites and describe their roles and relationship with each other.

Social media/networking sites can best be described as a online community of people who share common interest, values and activites…in short have many things in common…the basis of all friendships.

Because most are web-based and they are designed to allow interaction and are very easy to use, they are being used on a regular basis by millions of users from all walks of life all over the globe.

Content Sharing

Content is the heart and sole of the social media/networking sites. It is the subject and the words written all over the Internet.

By definition good content/writing provides useful information, solutions and value to a targeted group of people sharing common interests.

It is a new way people find each other and read and share information and respond to each other and form relationships that could personal, business and even political.

They are websites people can link to one another by setting up a personal profile and describing their interests, values among other things.

Social networking sites are popular with people all over the world.

Social networking sites can also be helpful for connecting with new people, whether on a business, friendship, or a romantic level.

In a nutshell, it can best be described as set of interactive online communications tools that allows individuals to go from one social site to another without any knowledge of social software technology, to author or post comments on common interests, and values.

Its premise is to contribute, and collaborate with others.

Video Sharing

It relates to free video sharing websites and allows individuals to upload video clips from their from their computers (downloaded from their digital cameras) to an Internet website. The video host will then store the video on its server.

The most prominent name for this service would be YouTube. These video sharing sites are similar to search engines like Google only the search is for one of thousands of video clips for the subject you are searching for …type what you want searched and up pops many videos related to subject.

Because of the wide range of topics covered has turned video sharing into one of the most important parts of Internet culture.

Article Marketing

Authors post their articles on a website generally known and an article directory.

Article writing is all about the content and its originality free of duplicity of content and spamming.

Authors or writers develop content usually for a specific market and most importantly try to incorporate keywords and keyword phrases, for a targeted market.

The key to the success of any author using this media to promote themselves as authors or their product lies in the originality, quantity, quality and relevancy of the articles they post.

Social Bookmarking

It is a technique to organize, store, search, and manage favorite web pages for Internet users
Users learn to save links to web pages that they want to remember and/or share.

Then they learn to organize their bookmarks with informal tags instead of the traditional browser-based system of folders.

For users, social bookmarking can be useful as a way to access a consolidated set of bookmarks from various computers, organize large numbers of bookmarks, and share bookmarks with contacts.

Blogs

A blog is a personal diary or It can be whatever you want it to be.

A daily pulpit, a collaborative space, a political soapbox, a breaking-news outlet, a collection of links. Alternatively, your own private thoughts or Memos to the world.
There are millions of them, in all shapes and sizes, and there are no real rules.

In simple terms, a blog is a web site, where you write stuff on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what’s new. Then they comment on it or link to it or email you, or not.

Websites

It is a collection of related web pages, images, videos or other digital assets that are addressed with a common domain name or IP address in an Internet Protocol-based network.

A web page is a document, typically written in plain text interspersed with formatting instructions of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML, XHTML). A web page may incorporate elements from other web sites.

All publicly accessible web sites collectively constitute the World Wide Web.

As the result of the inter-connectablity of all the many newly developed social media sites by utilization of the new web 2.0 technology there is and ongoing paradygm shift in the marketing platforms in the Network Marketing (MLM) industry and a boom of moms and dads working from home starting new home based businesses.
